summer.

Where has the time gone? I can't believe that it's already May!! Summer is rearing its beautiful head and I am so ready! I feel like summer brings along new hope, new loves and new beginnings- fresh starts!!

When we were younger summer was the best. Beach, pool, lake or anything involving water for that matter. Sun, friends, parties, and little responsibilities. It was and still is a time of freedom, love and laughter. A time to re-invent yourself.

Here are a few of my summer loves...

I can already tell that there's something different about this summer. I have no clue what's in store but I am so excited. Excited for the love, the parties, ice cream, sunscreen, laughter, surprises, and welts. [From the water balloons of course ;)]

What are your summer LOVES??

protect and repair.

found here.

With all this sun and amazing weather I feel it's important to share with you how to protect your lovely locks! Chlorine, salt-water and sun can do work on our hair and those once lustrous strands become damaged and frayed. If you color your hair you know what all of these things do. I have a few products that will help to prevent damage to your hair and repair what's already done.

Eufora's Hydration Leave-in Conditioner.
This is an amazing leave-in. It is so moisturizing yet light-weight and not greasy at all. I live off of this stuff, especially come summer time. A surprising fact- this bottle contains 75% pharmaceutical grade, certified organic, aloe-vera gel. PLUS--it has sun protecting properties which are cinnamon derived that work wonders on color treated and high-lighted hair.
*I put this in after getting out of the pool and it restores my hair to its silky, shiny state instantly!*
When you realize its too late or just want a little extra help conditioning, this one's for you!
Another great eufora product; urgent repair replenishing treatment. It contains 85% pharmaceutical grade certified organic aloe-vera gel; and menthol and camphor (which stimulate the skin and scalp and nourish your hair!) Not only is this awesome for your hair but great for sunburns! The aloe to soothe and the menthol and camphor to cool it down. Put some on at night and you'll wake up to a noticeably weakened burn. :)
Davines- such a wonderful line! :)
Originating in Italy, this natural product contains only the purest ingredients for your hair. I love this mask, you can use it daily or weekly for some extra repair. Its conditioning properties make it perfect for those of us who love to high-light our hair a little TOO excessively. ;)

Blondies-hate how your hair starts to turn green after a few too many dips in the pool?
Use leave-in conditioner before you jump in and you'll have a protective barrier. If it's already green, use a clarifying shampoo.
**Tip- don't use it too often or you'll need some extensive conditioning treatments :P

These same tricks can help out you darker haired peeps as well as red-heads! If you hate how your hair starts to turn brassy, use the leave-in!!

Go easy on those strands, after all, hair is our greatest accessory!

Happy Friday hair lovers! :)

creations.

Adding your own touch to anything is what makes it unique. So why does everyone think hair is so different? Really, there are only so many things you can do with your hair. You can curl it, straighten it, put it up or leave it down. Yes, there are things in between but those are the basics. But how do you make it look like you created it all on your own??
found here.
this and the following beauties found here.

Bows and headbands are so much fun! They don't need to be overly large or small. It depends on what your style is, where you're going and what feels good to you. If the style is simple add a larger bow. And if you have an eccentric style, a smaller bow should do the trick.

Its important to find things that are comfy on your head and something you feel confident in. Pick colors, size, style, etc. based on what YOU like. NOT what you see in the magazines.

Chelsea's shop is so cute! She makes the most amazing things! She can even create custom orders for you!! Check it out!

summer lovin'.

found here.
We are having some amazing weather, I can tell this summer is going to be beautiful!! I've found some super pretty hairstyles for summer that are quick, easy and fashionable! :)
found here.
Knots and twists are very in right now! My hair isn't quite long enough for this one yet but I can't wait to try it once it is! :)
found here.

If you weren't blessed with wavy or curly locks, you can still try it! You can use a salt-spray, Bb makes a surf spray that will give you this exact look-minus the braid of course ;) Spray on to damp hair, scrunch and let it go. Its perfect for day time hair. If you want to go a little more polished find a clip-less curling iron, I LOVE my Bombshell made by Sultra. It creates beautiful waves or curls that are more silky and healthier looking than your traditional curling iron, in half the time. All you do is spray a working hair spray and wind your hair around the barrel. The more hair you wind at once the bigger the wave, winding less hair will give you a curl.

found here.
I love this one! It's so simple and easy. The nice thing about all of these styles is they're messy so you don't need to spend tons of time making them polished and perfect!

I hope you enjoy playing with these new styles! I hope you enjoy the sun! :)

fringe.

I've had a lot of questions lately on the best ways to style fringe. Whether you're in the process of going from full to side, growing them out or just in between appointments, I've got a few tricks that should keep you from breaking out those kitchen scissors to try and "fix" them yourself!

For full bangs that are too long the pomp on top is out! Try pulling them into a twist to one side or one on each side of your head for that effortless boho look.
found here.

We've seen these twists in recent years and they'll be here for a while-at least they're cuter than those ridiculous pomps!! Add your own touch to these styles; flowers, headbands, bows and ribbons look rad!

If you're growing out your bangs, be patient! Yes, bangs do grow fast, but usually not when we want them too.:P You can use some of these same styles to help ease the process a little.
Using a paddle brush and blow-dryer point the dryer(with nozzle) at roots and use the brush going back and forth, side to side to get them to lay flat. This also will help with bangs that are too short.

I hope these ideas are helpful. Keep the questions coming! :)

knots.

A newer trend that is becoming quite popular is knots. A spin-off of the 90's trend combined with the chic and tousled looks today and we've got the knot! Re-invented of course. ;) Although it's called knots please don't confuse it with ratted, uncombed, unwashed hair! These knots don't require excessive brushing and insane amounts of conditioner. They're perfect for when you don't want to take the time to blow out or curl your hair. In a matter of 3 minutes your hair looks more put together and more stylish than just a boring old pony tail!!!

All you need for these simple styles is a few rubber bands and bobby pins to match your hair color.Use a smoothing serum or wax to help mold the hair and tame fly-aways. My favorites are Pure Polish from Eufora because it smells like bubble gum! And Piece Works defining paste because somehow its tacky but not sticky :) Add volume to the crown for a more put-together look or leave some pieces out for the messy-chic look. Be creative and add a bow or headband or whatever you'd like. I love the one's found in the Dainty Woods, she makes the most amazing pieces and can even do custom orders. Check out her shop!
Happy Thursday everyone!!

eufora.

Another great privilege I have is working with some amazing product and color lines. I was first introduced to eufora, when I was in beauty school and I've been working with it ever since. The first thing that attracted me to it was the smell, its delightful! The entire line will give you and your hair a fresh, clean scent and make your hair look like you just stepped out of the salon. How many of you are sick of putting products in your hair because it looks like you forgot to rinse out your conditioner? That's me for sure!! These products are all natural and are free of overwhelming perfumes, silicone, parabens, alcohol and even WATER. Yup, these amazing products don't have any water in them at all. Instead they use certified organic, pharmaceutical grade aloe vera, i.e. the highest grade of aloe you can get. Quite a mouth full but it's amazing how they can actually make product that is free of harsh and fake ingredients, make your hair look and feel healthier AND smell delicious!
Another awesome thing about this line is they color code their products! They make it so simple for you to remember what you need. Green-cleansers, Purple-conditioners, Pink-styling, Orange/Yellow-finishing. I am lucky enough to be an elite educator and Pistachio's in-salon Eufora Ambassador. I would love to have a consultation on products, cuts and colors. You can book your appt. here!
Happy Tuesday! :)
